History of A18-300
A18-300 was originally registered as VH-SUR. It was a Government Aircraft Factory (GAF) prototype (Nomad N2), that had its first flight on 23 July 1971. It arrived at Oakey painted green and white. The Army painted it in camouflage colours some time later. It is the aircraft that sat at the old guard room entrance to the Base for many many years, before the redevelopment of the Base.  It was moved to the old Museum and sat on the tarmac between the hangars for years, before being moved to the back of the new Museum before the official opening in 2005, with the intention of moving it to its present location, which happened a few months ago.
