Richard Anthony Yielding MID

161 (Indep) Recce Flt  08 Apr 70 - 19 May 71

  Sergeant Richard Anthony Yielding enlisted in the Australian Regular Army on 4 May 1965 and was allotted to the Royal Australian Army Service Corps. Sergeant Yielding arrived in South Vietnam on 9 April 1970 as the chief clerk of 161 (Independent) Reconnaissance Flight.

Throughout his tour Sergeant Yielding performed his duties with the greatest diligence and integrity, including many tasks which would normally be assigned to one of greater rank and experience. In addition, Sergeant Yielding developed a sound administrative system which was exploited to great advantage by the team he so ably led.

By his devotion to duty and personal example Sergeant Yielding's performance has been an inspiration to all ranks. The results of his work reflect great credit upon himself, his Corps and the Australian Army.
